This paper presents a practical technique to obtain quantitative information regarding droplet velocity. size, concentration and flux using the conventional PDA. This data processing procedure and a 4-axis traversing unit enable the automatic quantitative visualization of intermittent spray. As the result of applying this technique to the analysis of an air assisted gasoline direct injector, the formation of coherent structure is observed from early stage of injection. This coherent structure is very suitable for mixture formation of a gasoline direct injection engine.
