ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of Indian national oil company (NOC) ONGC, will be awaiting government permission from the Indian government to increase its investment in Block 06-1 in the Nam Son Con Basin offshore Vietnam. According to the Economic Times, India's Cabinet Committee On Economic Affairs (CCEA) will look into ONGC Videsh' proposal to invest an additional US$65.67mn in the block, which contains two of Vietnam's most prominent gas fields Lan Tay and Lan Do. ONGC Videsh holds a 45% interest in the block, together with operator TNK-BP (35%) and Vietnamese NOC PetroVietnam (20%).
