The final investment decision (FID) on Gorgon, the first phase of which has an estimated price tag of A$43 billion, was announced on 14 September after the granting of production licences and final state development approval at a signing ceremony attended by Western Australian state premier Colin Barnett and Australia's resources & energy minister Martin Ferguson. First gas is now planned for 2014.
