The Agi-Sett is a new clarifying thickener which features a low space requirement and a sedimentation velocity man'. times higher than in conventional sedimentation processes. Its simple design allows a cost-effective implementation thus enhancing the economy of sedimentative solid-liquid separation processes. The test results provide an insight into the fanction and operating behaviour. As a thickener, the Agi-Sett effects considerable capacity increase of a downstream solid-liquid separation process by removal of a large part of "ballast liquid". Besides its use as a pure clarifying apparatus, it can be used in extraction, crystallisation or agglomeration processes where the separation of solids and liquids is effected in a stirring discharge chain.
