China's long history and great geographical size has produced a culture rich in arts and crafts over its 3,200 year history. Among those are its classical gardens, use and appreciation of artistic stones and rockeries, calligraphy, ceramics, and treeand landscape penjing. Many of the traditional classical gardens survived and can be seen in such famous cities as Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Yangzhou, and Shanghai. Millions of people pour through these gardens annually to observe the detailed architectural features, the rocks, water, works of art, and plants.
