Asians comprise 4 percent of the U.S. population and represent 20 percent of the Ivy League. They earn advanced degrees at more than twice the rate of Caucasians. While not all Asians are bilingual, growing up bilingual, and even multi-lingual, helps give that competitive edge. Researchers say early language skills can propel learning and be a harbinger of success. Now, enterprising Asians can help families succeed with a community-based program that teaches children a second language.
