This article presents the results of a study conducted at the University of Cordoba, Argentina, to assess the pig population in this region, to evaluate original species, without crossbreeds. The morphological and phenotypic characteristics and descriptive statistics on weight and zoometric indices are presented. A sample of 43 best examples of pigs of 10 months of age was assessed for characterization of genetic population. The variables assessed included: colour of cape and hooves, skin type, ears and head profile, and number of teats. These results are presented and discussed. It is concluded that the population studied was very homogeneous..
