Timber offers endless opportunities and the most sustainable solutions when it comes to 'green' construction and design. Compared to other building materials, timber is a natural, recyclable, energy efficient, sustainable, carbon neutral and an environmentally friendly resource. According to Australian architect Richard Kirk, who just set up practice in Malaysia, the country has an abundance of high quality timbers which should be specified in both public and private projects. "Timber gives a warm natural finish and is aesthetically appealing, providing designers and architects many opportunities to develop creative and innovative timber-based designs for structures, paneling, flooring and furnishings.
