Visitors to AusBiotech's Melbourne office may soon be greeted in a foyer adorned with striking mauve-violet carnations. The idea is to display the tangible and positive results of one of the many applications of genetically modifiedorganisms. The FLORIGENE~(R) Moonshadow flower is one of a range produced by the company Florigene. The company describes itself as 'the world's first molecular breeder'. Florigene uses genetic modification technology to create improvements to flowers at its research facility in Bundoora, Melbourne.
