Professor Scott Sloan has been appointed visiting senior principal at Coffey Geotechnics. Professor Sloan is federation fellow and professor of Civil Engineering at Newcastle University. He also founded the Priority Research Centre for Geotechnical and Materials Modelling which focuses on research in the field of computational geomechanics. As visiting senior principal, Professor Sloan will assist with Geotechnical issues across the company's global operations and has already commenced working on the Port Botany project. Through Professor Sloan, Coffey Geotechnics will also tap into the expertise of Newcastle University, one of Australia's leading engineering universities. Visiting senior principals take part in the activities of Coffey Geotechnics' Council of Senior Principals, which was established in 2005. A key aim of the Council is to provide staff with the opportunity to become equipped with the skills, knowledge and expertise to help them reach the highest level in their field.
