摘要

In February this year, two RedR Australia members Howard Sullivan, Geotechical Engineer and Kathryn Harries, Water and Sanitation Engineer joined the AusAID Assessment Team visiting the Philippine landslide site about 5 days after the disaster. Neryl Lewis (Emergencies Manager, AusAID), Andrew McPherson (Geoscience Australia) and Gi Domingo (Philippines Development Program Manager, AusAID) were also part of the team. The aim of the one week assessment mission was to: (i) assist Philippine authorities in assessing slope stability in the vicinity of the landslide site and the potential for further landslides in the region; (ii) conduct water and sanitation assessments at evacuation centre sites and make recommendations for future Australian assistance which is likely to involve geo-hazard mapping and risk assessment.
