On March 24 this year, the United States-based media network CNN discussed alcohol-, obesity- and smoking-related preventive health initiatives in New York under the banner, 'Bloomberg: Nanny-in-chief or health crusader. That same day, The Financial Times reported the National Rifle Association's criticism of Mr Bloomberg's support of gun control, "They (the American people) don't want him in their restaurants. They don't want him in their homes. They don't want him telling what food to eat. They sure don't want him telling what self-defence firearms to own and he can't buy America."
