Matthew Caspari, Founder and Managing Director of Aurora Algae Pty Ltd, is really excited about the prospects for his algal biotechnology company. "After a global search we found a perfect site in Western Australia for our pilot algal production facility. Karratha has the right solar intensity, optimum temperatures, low rainfall, large tracts of coastal land not useful for agriculture and easy access to seawater. "Whilst many of these attributes were found in sites we examined in the Middle East andCentral and South America, it was the ready availability of carbon dioxide as well as the ease of doing business in Australia which closed the deal."
