Bob has been an active member of the Australian Plants Society for over 40 years and is currently the newsletter editor for the South East Group of APS, NSW. It all started on 29 February 2008 with an email from Cas Liber of the Australian Plants magazine editorial team, which read: "Bob, I was trying to get in contact with you about the possibility of the SE group doing a whole edition of Australian Plants with the luxury of colour images etc. It works out at 29 A5 pages of text, and 16 pages of colour images. Any time limit is fine, just wanted to set the thing in motion, (signed) Cas".
