摘要

Dick moved from Sydney to Tasmania in 1970 as a high school teacher. He bought his Penguin home in June 1976 and, in the family tradition, he is still there in 2014. When a local group of the Society for Growing Australian Plants Tasmania (now APST) started in 1978, Dick joined, and he is still there too. Dick has been honoured with Life Membership of APST, the Australian Plants Award (amateur category) and in 2013, the Medal of the Order of Australia for 'service to botany, as an author and conservationist'.
