JOHN DODSON WAS THE SON OF A race-car driver, so when he graduated from his Winston-Salem high school, he had a path to pursue his dream. Many other racing hopefuls haven't been so fortunate, much less connected. Dodson is trying to change that. Dodson was one of the first employees of NASCAR Technical Institute, a division of Universal Technical Institute, a postgraduate school in Mooresville, North Carolina. He helped design a curriculum that would give students not only a foundation for working in the automotive industry but also the training to attract the attention of stock-car teams.
