The lack of storage facilities and the inherent perishability of cut flowers are threatening the cut-flower industry here. "Local and foreign demand for cut flowers arc increasing but growers are worried about the city's lack of cutflower storage facilities," said Ma. Teresa Arao, director of the Department of Trade and Industry. She said high costs of inputs and the incidence of pests and disease result to low productivity. Growers said tissue culture and hybridization are methods to achieve success in orchid culture and propagation.
