Poultry integrators are now finding their profit margins squeezed, with costs of production going up and selling prices of chicken going down. Bernardo Concepcion, RFM Corp, executive vice-president and spokesperson for the Philippine Association of Broiler Integrators, told reporters that with the price of corn up to P7.80 per kilo from around P5 per kilo late last year, cost of production has gone up to unprofitable levels. It is estimated that a P1 increase in the price of corn results in a P2 toP3 per kilo increase in chicken price.
