The foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is threatening to wipe out the livestock industry in Luzon. In Bulacan, more than 100,000 animals have been in fected by the disease which started last May. The most affected towns are Pandi, Sta. Maria, San Jose del Monte, Meycauayan, Bal-agtas, Bocaue, Baliuag, Guiguinto, Norzaga-ray, San Rafael and Plaridel. In Pangasinan, 28 towns are affected by the outbreak which was first delected last April. More than 700 pigs have been reported to have died from the disease since then.
