摘要

An improvized product discharge mechanism for conical process was developed for uninterrupted discharge flow of viscous dairy products and for reduced residual hold up of product contents in the vat. Three open type centrifugal impellers with different vane angles were designed and fabricated for fitting at the bottom of the vat to provide radial thrust to overcome the frictional head losses in product discharge line. The performance of the improvized discharge mechanism was studied by making khoa in the conical process vat. Each impeller was fitted to the vat bottom one by one, and the performance was evaluated in terms of mass flow rate of discharge and residual hold up of product contents. Two vane centrifugal impellers with vane angles of 30 and 40 degrees at entrance and exit, respectively, could discharge the product having a concentration of 74% TS at a mass flow rate of 0.0214 kg/sec leaving only 0.7 kg of residual hold up of product contents in the vat.
