Indian coffee has a very good reputation of quality and brings back a premium in the international market, especially for Robusta as it is grown at high-altitude and traditionally under dense and diversified shade. At present, the effects of individual shade tree species on coffee quality are not known in India, and particularly to what extent the replacement of native tree species by silver oak is affecting the coffee quality of Robusta and Arabica.
