摘要

The primary sequence of the V3 and V6 regions of the 16S ribosomal RNA genes of non-pathogenic and pathogenic E. coli strains were determined and compared with those of non-E. coli strains, to develop E. coli-specific DNA probes. Results showed thatall the E. coli strains tested generated positive hybridization signals, while none of the non-E. coli strains gave a false-positive result. The probes could be used to detect levels of E. coli as low as 10 c.f.u./100 ml in tap water or milk.
