摘要

Upland rice is a crucial component of hill agriculture and well integrated in its cropping system. It is entirely grown by small and marginal farmers under rainfed conditions by using traditional cultivars to fulfill their own requirement. In the hills, upland rice is a base for livelihood and nutritional security in areas which has limited or no access to resources alongwith challenging ecogeographic conditions.
