摘要

Neoplasms of female reproductive tract are very rare in small ruminants. Approximately 10-50% of the genital tumours originated from smooth muscle, out of them only 10% are considered as malignant (Hulland, 1990). Leiomyosarcomas are malignant tumoursof smooth muscle which occur rarely in the reproductive tract. They cause a low-grade malignancy, slow invasion and rare metastasis (Whitney et al., 2000). Tumours of the female reproductive tract in animal species are vaginal leiomyosarcoma (Enginler et al., 2011), vaginal fibrosarcoma (Hamali and Ashrafihelan, 2010) and uterine lymphosarcoma and adenocarcinoma (Kennedy and Miller, 1993) in cows and uterine leiomyosarcoma in sheep (Vemireddi et al., 2007). However, there is little information on tumours of genital smooth muscle in goats (Ramadan and El Hassan, 1975; Ryan, 1980). Though sporadic reports are available on uterine and cervical leiomyomas in goats (Cockroft and Mcinnes, 1998), no reports are available on vaginal leiomyosarcoma. This casereport describes the successful surgical removal of vaginal leiomyosarcoma in a Tellicherry doe.
