摘要

Two types of complete pellets, control with no feed mix and treatment containing herbal anticoccidial feed mix (extract of Allium sativum bulb and Annona squamosa leaves) (each mixed @ 7 mg/kg body weight) was formulated. A feeding trial of 90 days on these pellets was carried out in 12 Barbari goats (age 3 months) in two groups of six each and daily feed intake, fortnightly body weight gain, rumen fermentation parameters, oocyst count and number of diarrhoea cases were studied. The daily dry matter intake was significantly (P<0.05) higher in treatment group (709 g) than control group (648 g). The average daily gain was non-significantly higher in the treatment group (81.68 g) as compared to the control group (69.14 g). There was no significant difference in rumen fermentation parameters between the groups. The data pertaining to coccidial oocyst count in the faeces did not reflect any definite conclusion but the number of cases with diarrhoea was higher in the control group than the treatment group. It can be concluded that production parameters affected by coccidial infection can be improved by feeding pellet containing herbal anticoccidial feed mix.
