Thirty mvdtivoltine x bivoltine hybrids from four newly developed multivoltine breeds along with Pure Mysore and six testers (three oval and three dumb-bell) of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. have been analysed. Of the parental lines, NP2 and NP1 were found to be good general combiners possessing highly significant GCA effects for eight and seven out of eleven characters, respectively. Among multivoltine x bivoltine hybrids, five hybrids viz., NP1 x CSR17, NP2 x NB4D2, NP3 x NB4D2, NP3 x CSR19 and NP4x CSR18 exhibited significant SCA effects for five economic characters each. Several hybrids revealed significant hybrid vigour for cocoon yield, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, filament length and raw silk percentage.
