Credit crunch hits Tesla hard - Economic crisis forces electric car brand to lay off start and delay its new saloon
FLEDGLING ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE car maker Tesla Motors is feeling the squeeze of the credit crunch and will be forced to lay off staff and streamline operations to secure its future. A spokesperson for the ultra-modern Silicon Valley firm confirmed to Autocar that it is engaged in a "headcount reduction". It was also confirmed that the Model 5, a potentially ground-breaking five-seat electric saloon planned for 2011, has been postponed for at least six months.
