Apple is grown all over the world in temperate regions at an altitude ranging from 1,350 to 2,600 m above msl with an annual rainfall of 125-175 cm. The Jammu and Kashmir state has an area of 2,17,545 ha under fruit cultivation with 86,651 ha under apple and has an annual production of 9,29,022 mt, but the productivity is very low 8.52 mt ha-1 as compared to 40.7 mt ha-1in USA Negi ef, 7. The low production is primarily owing to the poor soil fertility status besides improper management practices. Nutritional imbalances in the soil causes nutritional disorders and consequently affects both quality and quantity of fruit. It is therefore, necessary to know micronutrient cations availability vis-a-vis soil characteristics for temperate region of Kashmir which is lacking. Keeping this in view, an attempt was made to correlate micro-nutrient cation contents in these soils with soil properties.
