摘要

The aonla Emblica officinalis Gaertn. is one ofthe most important minor fruits of tropics and sub-tropics for its high nutritive and therapeutic values. Due to multipurpose uses, the demand of fresh aonla fruitsis increasing continuously. Since the crop is mainlygrown in degraded soils or waste lands where major fertilizer applicationbecomes essential. Among the major nutrients,nitrogen is considered to be the vital in case of aonlaand its requirement depends on agroclimatic situationwhere the crop is grown. No information is availableregarding effect of different levels of nitrogen on yieldand quality of aonla grown in laterite soil of West BengalGhosh et al., 6. With the above observation, aninvestigation was undertaken to study the effect ofnitrogen fertilization on yield and physico-chemicalcharacteristics of aonla.
