摘要

The enhancement of soil fertility assumes importance for sustained agriculture productivity in drought prone regions. Given the socio-economic conditions of the farmers and low and erratic rainfall, the extensive use of chemical fertilizers to augmentplant production, is a risky proposition, generally results in decreased soil productivity. Production of horticultural crops has undergone enormous changes in recent years. The use of beneficial microorganisms, viz. nitrogen fixing bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in cultivation of different fruit trees is gaining prominence. Biofertilizers are known to exert indirect effect on the soil microbiological activities, which in turn help the plant grow better besides direct effect of nitrogen fixation and P mobilization. Enzyme activities are an index to detect changes in the microbial functioning in soil, as affected by bioinoculations Neelima et al., 9. The present investigations are an attempt to study the effect of different bioinoculants on soil microbiological diversity in the rhizosphere soil of ber, aonla and pomegranate and on their vegetative qrowth.
