The Indonesian Leather Industry is facing a shortage of raw material locally, therefore, it is urging the government to raise duties on raw material exports (i.e., Wet-blue and crust leather), so as to limit overseas shipments. According to the Indonesia's Finance Ministry, the excise tax, spanning from 15-16 percent may be increased upto 60%.
