摘要

It is now well realized that for sustaining soil health and crop productivity, integrated use of organic and inorganic sources of nutrients is important. Escalating fertilizer prices, growing environmental concern and shortage in conventional sourcesof organic manures like FYM, compost, etc. necessitate the exploitation of other cheap and locally available sources of plant nutrients. Weed biomass may be a potential source of plant nutrients if managed properly. Eichhornia crassipes and Ipomoea carnea are two locally available weeds in and around farm area, which may be used under puddle soil conditions for supplementing fertilizer and improving the soil health. However, before utilizing the biomass of such weed it is imperative to know their allelopathic effect on the crop. In cognizance of the above, the present study was undertaken.
