摘要

Berseem is an important forage crop in irrigated areas of Kymore plateau and Satpura hill zone of Madhya Pradesh, where daily farming is one of the main occupations of the farmers. Among the different weeds, Cichorium intybus is one which is mainly found associated with berseem and gives more competitional stress by robbing the crop of essential nutrients, light, moisture and space (Thakur et al., 1990). Consequently, it causes substantial reduction (30-40 percent) in yields besides deteriorating the quality of green forage, if not controlled during critical period of crop-weed competition (Jain, 1998b). Therefore, the present study was aimed at finding out most potent and selective herbicide for curbing the menace of this weed during critical period of crop growth.
