摘要

Crop loss due to weeds in tea fields of south India ranged between 12 to 21 percent depending on the weed species infesting the fields (Ilango and Satyanarayana, 1998). Chemical weed control during the south-west monsoon season is a difficult operation due to the continuous and very high rainfall received from June to August. During this period no post-emergence herbicide can be applied with favourable results. To overcome this problem, Sreedhar and Ilango (1998) suggested application of pre-emergence herbicides just before the onset of the monsoon season. Application of either a pre-emergence or a tank mixture of pre- and post-emergence herbicides provided good control of weeds during the peak period of the monsoon. In this context, a pre-emergence herbicide, napropamide (Devrino1 45 SC) was evaluated for its bio-efficacy against the weeds in tea.
