摘要

This group has developed a method for complete degumming and deacidification of crude vegetable oil prior to a membrane-based purification process. This works under mild conditions and is claimed to preserve the quality and compositional profile of the extracted oil. Here the suitability of the purification process, and the effects of membrane pressure and temperature on aggregate stability and efficiency of separation are described. Crude oils can be degummed in a single operation, without the generation of wastewater, and at low temperature (i.e. process cost-saving). The compositional profiles of the oils (i.e. phytosterols, diglycerides, etc.) are discussed.
