A novel 3D coordination polymer {[Dy2(bpdc)3(H2O)3] · H2O}_n (bpdc = 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'- dicarboxylate) based on inorganic rod-shaped infinite secondary building unit is presented, which possesses unusual mixed-connected network topology and shows high thermal stability and strong photoluminescence at room temperature.
