Prior Scientific Ltd (Cambridge, England), a developer of microscope automation systems and related equipment, has opened a German office, Prior Scientific Instruments GmbH (Jena, Germany). The foundation of the subsidiary is aimed at increasing sales activities in the German speaking markets, Dr Peter Booth, sales & marketing director of Prior Scientific, told Instruments, during Analytica 2008, which took place in Munich, Germany during the first week of April. Prior, founded in 1919 through the merger of two established British microscopy companies, has in addition to its traditional product lines of light microscopes, expanded into the markets of microscopy automation, with scanning stages (ProScan and OptiScan), filter wheels, motor controllers and solutions for microscopy illumination.
