Qiagen NV (Venlo, The Netherlands), which has previously designed its molecular testing technologies under an open platform approach for the PCR detection instruments of other manufacturers, has acquired the privately-held Corbett Life Science pty Ltd (Sydney, Australia) and is to increase its focus on developing tests for its own-brand instruments, it said. Qiagen will pay around 70 million in cash and stock for the company, plus a potential 65 million over the next four years in performance-related payments.
