In the first half of fiscal 2008 ended the 30th of September 2007, the Analytical business segment of Oxford Instruments plc (Ol; Abingdon, England) increased sales by 15% from the prior year period, to £49.6 million (99.2 million at £0.50 = 1). Operating profit, excluding costs related to the company's Oxford Instruments Innovation (OII) division, which operates across both of the company's segments, fell by 22% to £2.8 million.
