The Electronic Instruments Group (EIG) of Ametek Inc (Paoli, PA) improved sales by 22% year-on-year in the second quarter of calendar 2008, to 343.1 million, as 6% organic growth was boosted by the acquisitions of Cameca (see Instrumenta 24 (9) 1), California Instruments, Advanced Industries and Vision Research. Cost-control initiatives helped operating income rise 26% to 78.1 million.
