The focus of this paper is the geological, mineralogical and chemical examination of Hirschau potassium feldspar as well as its processing, physical characteristics and special applications for the tile industry in regard to those elements which have a decisive effect on the quality of the final product. The paper deals with the wide industrial range of products which is currently covered by this significant industrial sector: Wall and floor tiles, white stoneware, "porcellanato", with special consideration of frits and glazes.
