摘要

Efficient growth in buffaloes is of economic importance, since it determines the prospective value of an animal at an early age. The present investigation was undertaken to know the genetic architectures of body weight at different ages. Data on 269 Murrah buffaloes of Military Farms were available for analysis over a period of 27 years (1951-1977). The entire duration was divided into 9 periods of 3 years each. The year was further divided into most calving season (July to December) and least calving season (January to June). The effect of farm, period and season was examined using least squares technique (Harvey, 1966).
