Howard Ratner* was honored for his contributions to online dissemination of information through the Internet on any device at the NFAIS 54th Annual Conference. He informed the participants that search engines changed the way people interacted with their devices and information. People began to expect in the early 2000s that information needed to be presented in new forms, such as audio and video. Blogs emerged and found a place as more informal rapid communications became more common. The role of the journal editor had to adapt to these changes, as interactions directly between editors and journalists with readers became the norm. Social Networks introduced another significant change as a medium where users gathered together in large numbers to share information about themselves and things that were interesting to them.
