The owner of the copyright in any work has the right to prevent anyone else from doing certain acts to his work without his express permission. These acts include copying, selling, hiring out, performing the work in public, broadcasting the work on radio or TV, or amending the work. These are the so-called restricted acts. The list of restricted acts includes digitisation.
