摘要

Mortality, litter size and litter weight at birth and weaning was recorded for 269 litters of Large White pigs maintained at the University Pig Breeding Farm in Mannuthy, India, and born in December-February (moderately dry), March-May (dry summer),June-August (rainy) and September-November (intermittent rainy). Litter size and litter weight at birth of litters born during the moderately dry season were higher than those of litters born during the dry summer (P<0.05, P<0.05), rainy (P<0.05, P<0.01) and intermittent rainy (P<0.01, P<0.01) seasons. Litter size and litter weights at weaning were higher for those litters born during the moderate dry season than during the rainy (P<0.05, P<0.05) and intermittent rainy (P<0.05, P<0.01) seasons. Mortality rate was highest during the moderately dry season.
