To improve the scenario of dairy farming in the rural areas various dairy production related technologies have been disseminated in the adopted villages of Karnal district by the dairy extension division. In the present study an attempt was made to ascertain the fodder production pattern and adoption of the disseminated technologies in various areas of dairy farming in the operational area. The analysed data collected from 250 dairy farmers of 10 adopted villages indicated that 62 per cent of the respondents were young in age and 68 percent had nuclear family. Out of the net cultivable land 2945 acres, available with the respondents, the area under fodder crops was 190.75, 196.00 and 107.25 acres in Kharif, Rabi and summer seasons respectively. Theextent of adoption for recommended dairy farming practices was 73.76, 68.32, 61.56, 63.60,and37.53 per cent in the areas of breeding, feeding, health care, management and fodder production respectively. The overall adoption was 58.26 per cent. Relationship between the selected independent variables of the respondents with adoption was also worked out and were found to be highly significant at 1% level of probability. There is need to disseminate more production technologies in the area of fodder production as the adoption was only 37.53 percent in this area. Adoption of recommended technologies was more than 61.56 per cent in different areas of dairying which suggest that dairy extension work should also be carried out in non-adopted villages by various dairy developmental agencies.
