The present study was carried out on 95 farmers distributed under semi-urban (37) and rural areas (58)belonging to four districts viz. Ranchi, Gumla, Lohardagga and Hazaribagh of Jharkhand-State. Severalfarmers maintained their pigs according to their knowledge level, socio-economic status etc. There wasa marked increase in adoption of scientific pig rearing practices with respect to breeding, feeding,management and disease control both in semi-urban and rural areas after our intervention. Present studyrevealed that 86.29% farmers got interested in pig rearing, and 67.57% farmers used the pig farming asmajor source of income after our intervention which was 24.32 and 8.11%, respectively before our interventionin semi-urban area, the corresponding values in rural'areas are 62.07 and 51.72% after interventionagainst only 20.69 and 0.00% before our intervention.
