摘要

Question What are the effects of interventions aimed at improving physical and psychosocial functioning after hip fracture in older people? Relevance to Nursing Care Rehabilitation is often necessary for an older person following a hip fracture. Despite this, less than half of patients who sustain a hip fracture return to their prefracture level of mobility. Associated with the reduced mobility is a decline in independence and quality of life. Nurses are involved in providing rehabilitative care. A wide range of physical, psychosocial and social factors influence patient outcomes. While psychosocial and social factors, such as fear of falling, self-efficacy and coping strategies, are acknowledged as being important for older people in recovery from a hip fracture, there is little known about how treatments impact on these factors. In addition, information regarding which of the multiple disciplines can best provide rehabilitative interventions is limited.
