We here take stock of knowledge related to ceramic assemblages dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age transition in the middle Rhdne valley. This seems to have taken place around 2150 BC with a clearly renewed corpus. This situation is different from the well-known one in Provence between the Bell-Beaker culture and "Epicampaniforme" or the Early Bronze Age of the Laure style. In Drome, the origin of the Early Bronze Age is assumed to lie in a revival of Central-European connections. In the area of Lyon, a late group of Bell-Beaker evolution (Vaise style) has been defined from the sites of the Vaise plain, mainly those of Gorge de Loup and the Lyon north ring road. Lastly, drawing a parallel between regional chrono-cultural sequences in Western Europe poses a delicate problem of correspondence between the different conventional systems of classification. This weakens the analysis of exchanges between cultural groups.
