摘要

Nanoscience and nanotechnology have produced remarkable advances in diagnosis, treatment monitoring and control of biological systems and these are now referred to as nano-medicine. Nano is derived from the Greek word for "dwarf".In 1959", Nobel Prize winner R.P. Feynman in 1959 suggested the idea of studying things at the atomic level and nanoscience was thus evolved. Nanoscience is thus the science behind the abilities to employ nanotechnology which again is defined as the manipulation of matter at nanoscale. The capabilities in nanoscience to study the phenomena and manipulation of atomic, molecular and macromolecular scales make it a novel research tool to diagnose and treat the genome or genetic disorders in human beings and also in medicine at large.
